Telepresence Making History:The Cisco & CNN Partnership

Cisco makes history with its telepresence technology; partnering with CNN is a wise choice indeed. CNN has chosen this partnership to accomplish live two-way communication, through custom built Cisco Telepresence sets during news broadcasting. This is definitely a step up from their customary one-way feeds. CNN displays the Cisco Telepresence logo at the beginning and end of the each telepresence interview. Never before has CNN given an advertiser the opportunity to brand its technology during live news coverage.
October 14th marked the day that CNN launched the C90 units (Cisco TANDBERG TelePresence sets) in their Washington D.C., Atlanta, and New York Bureaus. These custom units connect to Cisco TANDBERG’s EX90 units located in the home offices of James Carville and Mary Matalin, and also David Gergen’s office at Harvard University which brought live coverage, both during and after the mid-term elections of 2010. Carville, Matalin, and Gergen will take part in multiple telepresence interviews as they appear frequently on different shows each week. Along with the mid-term elections, Cisco Telepresence will also be used by Principal Steve Perry who will be receiving an EX90 to host his weekly segment on American Morning and Anderson 360. You can look forward to January 2011 for integrations with Steve Perry to begin.
See for yourself by texting “CNN” (do not include quotes) to 24726 and you will be notified the next time CNN is scheduled to air a telepresence segment.
